Isologen is one of the new bio-technologies which involves using the patient’s own tissues to treat their lines, folds, wrinkles and deep acne scars.

How does it work?
A small piece of the skin is taken from behind the ear (about the size of a grain of rice) under local anaesthetic and sent to the Isolagen laboratory for processing. Collagen producing cells (Fibroblasts) are removed from the biopsy and grown to maturity. When enough mature cells are developed, they are then injected back into the patients at the desired indication.

Where Can Isolagen Be Used on The Face?
Isolagen can be used to treat lip lines, deep lines from the nose to the mouth, vertical lines around the lips, and acne scars. The product is very versatile.

Is the result immediate?
The result is not immediate and patients will have to wait approximately 7 months to see the results from the procedure. The effects of this procedure will last up to 18 months and patients see improvements on an ongoing basis as the cells multiply and produce more collagen in the skin.

Is the procedure painful?
The product is injected into the skin with a very fine needle and the discomfort to the patient is minimal. The procedure takes approximately 25 minutes.

How long will the treatment last?
This treatment will last approximately 18 to 20 months in most patients.
