Are There Many
Different Types of Dermal Fillers?
There are many different types of dermal fillers in
the market but only a few dermal fillers have demonstrated
predictable results, long term results, minimal swelling
and redness after treatment and outstanding safety results.

in our clinic. These products have consistently demonstrated
predictability and safety.

Restylane and Perlane
Restylane and Perlane is the brand
name for non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic
Acid is a polysaccride that is found in the connective
tissue of our dermis. Hyaluronic acid in combination
with Collagen Fibres and Elastin Fibres give the face
form, shape and hydration. Restylane and Perlane is
the most popular dermal filler used to contour the face.
The product comes in three formulations. The selection
of which formulation to use is determined by your skin
type and the area to be contoured. The result from the
treatments is immediate and will last six to eight months.
Juvederm
Juvederm is another form of non-animal
hyaluronic acid. This product performs in the same way
as Restylane and Perlane Juvederm can be injected into
most areas of the face where lines, folds and wrinkles
develop. The product is also used to contour chin and
cheek areas. The result from the treatment is immediate
and will last approximately five to six months.
Zyderm and Zyplast
Zyderm and Zyplast are bovine-based
dermal fillers. These two products are commonly known
as Collagen. Collagen has been used as dermal filler
for over 20 years with a proven track record for safety
and predictable results. Unlike Juvederm and Restylane,
this product requires a skin test before the patient
can be treated. The results will last approximately
3-4 months. Zyderm and Zyplast are used on only on patients
wanting Collagen as a dermal filler.
