| Breast
uplift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical operation
to re-shape sagging breasts. The procedure will give
produce a more youthful and firmer breast.
How
does it work?
Under general anaesthetic, skin
is removed from underneath the breast. The nipple is
then elevated to normal position and the excess skin
removed. . This creates a firmer breast shape that protrudes
in a tighter cone from the chest when surgery is complete.
Women who undergo breast uplift will need to wear a
good support bra following surgery to aid recovery.
How long does surgery
take?
Breast uplift surgery takes 1
2 hours to complete. The patient will be under
general
anaesthetic and an overnight hospital stay is required.
What is the recovery
time?
Full recovery from breast uplift
surgery may take 6 - 8 weeks. Strenuous activity should
be avoided for 3 - 4 weeks.
How long will it last?
Breast uplift is generally regarded
as permanent solution. Depending on the age of the patients,
some minor drooping may occur in the future.
Are there any side effects?
Soreness, bleeding and some bruising
and swelling around the breasts is likely to be experienced
in the weeks after surgery. Nauseous ness and vomiting
might occur as a side effect of the general anaesthetic
